How fast is your website?

Imagine the scenario:

It’s your partner’s birthday next month and you’re searching online for the perfect gift. You’re searching in Google and are looking down the list of sites to see if there is anything that catches your eye. You find one site that looks promising, and you click on the link to go to it. The screen clears and then you wait…. and wait… and wait. Eventually the website displays (or worse still nothing appears at all).

How to reach more of your customers in Google

Here’s a latest video interview with Matt Cutts, head of Google’s Webspam team. He talks a bit about the new layout of the Google Search Engine Results Page (SERP), and the opportunities it creates for businesses to reach their users beyond that one “trophy phrase” that has traditionally been the focus of Search Engine Optimisation. The video is only 6 minutes long, and if you can get past the slightly cheesey introduction it is well worth watching.
